An Overdue Update

I will try to make this as short and sweet as possible. I will use the help of photos to tell the story:

The month of May was a whirlwind of a month because not only did we move out of our apartment before the lease was up, we bought a house, I graduated college, and I bought a car from a friend.

Charlotte was thebomb.com!
BBA from GSU
2011 Toyota Rav4

Fast forward to September 14, 2021 and the following has occurred: We got a new roof, my fiancé is a US citizen (finally!!), and we’re fostering the most adorable dogs.

A huge expense, but definitely needed.

Between today and May, we’ve

  • watched our friends get married and then move to California
  • gone camping in Acworth, GA
  • attended a Fernbank After Dark event in Atlanta
  • attempted to vacation in Florida, but then got caught in Hurricane Irma
  • babysat our neighbor’s children (2 young boys)
  • built some benches
  • lit some fires
  • cooked and baked a lot of new foods
  • supported delicious local Filipino vendors (https://kamayanatl.com/)
Fernbank After Dark events are awesome! 21+!
Camping at Lake Altoona
Bench Phase One
Bench is done with a fire!
We love Filipino food!!
Vegan banana cream pie- yum!

Those are all the updates I have for you all for right now. Here is to a fun-filled last half of 2021!

I’m Back!!

I have decided to return to this blog after a little hiatus. Allow me to update everyone:

  • I am one semester away from graduating! Woohoo!
  • I still work at the book curation company; however, I have since been promoted to Assistant Business Manager.
  • My hair is now over 2 feet in length.
  • I have been working remote since March.
  • All of my classes have been online.
  • I am engaged!!
  • I have not traveled this year, for obvious reasons, but I will be going camping this weekend!
  • My apartment is Halloween-ready!
  • I have been cutting my fiancé’s hair since March and I am a total professional now (not)
  • I bought a new laptop because my old one bit the dust (Dell Inspiron 15 5000)
  • I am beginning to sell things on Poshmark to make some extra cash.

Those are all the big updates that I have for you all. I will make another post detailing how I am getting ready for Halloween- spoiler: it involves cookies!!

Countdown to School Starting

I am so ready for school! 1 more month!! I have not been active on my website because I truly haven’t been doing much except working and seeing family/friends.

My mom and I did visit my sister in Jacksonville this past weekend and that was nice. The weather was hot, but we went to the beach on Saturday night and it was cool there.

My mom and I stayed in a hotel that was about 30 minutes from my sister’s apartment. It was nice, but the floor felt slightly moist.

Breakfast was good.

Driving to Jacksonville went by faster than the trip back to mom’s house. This was predominantly because of construction on the way.

Work is good. We hired a new human and she starts on August 1st. There is also more work for me to do right now, so I am happy about being busy.

I’m sorry to leave this website so “blah”, but I just haven’t been on any exciting adventures. I guess life after AmeriCorps is a lot more ordinary. Oh well.

Roomies

My roommates and I are in the same room at the same time for the first time in 5 weeks. This is truly a beautiful moment. I am typing at my computer, the other girl, Rose, is eating her dinner, and Will, the landlord, and fellow roommate, is cooking his own.

Work has been quite slow and I’m having trouble “looking busy”… I have summer deliverables that I can work on, but that’s about it. If I don’t have invoices to pay or transactions to reconcile, there’s minimal work to do.

I hope I am taught more about the operations side of things so that I can help create bundles and send books to schools. That would help fill my time and make the whole process quicker for the store and its clients.

I’m trying to spend more time with my family without spending so much on gas money. Maximizing my visit when I am in an area is something I have improved on. Everyone is now about 30 minutes away from me, whereas before it was 40 minutes- 1 hour.

I have about 1.5 months until school starts and I am still pretty hyped. Also around the same time, I will have 2 humans staying at my place while Dragon Con is happening in the city. That should be a good time.

My sister has officially moved to Jacksonville, FL. She will be starting the City Year program shortly and plans to hang around in Jacksonville afterward as well (if everything goes well).

I have prepped my breakfast and lunch for tomorrow. When I was at my mom’s house yesterday, we cooked 2 meals and split them so that we would both have some of each to eat during this week. I suppose I shall start getting ready for bed now.

4 dogs, 4 cats, 3 fish, 1 bird, and 1 bunny.

I have spent the past few days petsitting for my aunt and uncle and they have A LOT of animals. They have what’s included in the title, but also a frog and a salamander.

This week has involved a lot of driving because their house isn’t that close to where I live. I don’t really mind, though, because I do enjoy driving. Even in Atlanta.

I guess the only part I’m a little annoyed at is that I paid for June’s rent, but I haven’t spent but 1 night at my house and we’re already one week into the month. Oh well.

I’m hoping next week is a little more relaxed. I made zero plans, so my goal is to spend that time finalizing my room and meal prepping for the work week.

Speaking of work, that has been going well. They bumped me up to 30 hours because they’ve been delegating more things from the Sales/Operations side to me, in addition to my own area: Administration. I don’t mind; the day goes by faster when I have lots of things to do.

My highlight of this week is spending time with my favorite dog, Cleo. My grandma’s house is so close to my aunt and uncle’s place, so I’ve been seeing her almost daily.
